Cancer diets
Eat To Lower Risk Of Cancer
Cancer is defined as a class of diseases in which a group of cells multiply and grow at an uncontrollable rate, invasion and sometimes metastasis. The disease affects people at all ages. It has many causes such as heredity, infection, and mutation. However, there are modifiable risk factors that we can control through our Life Style.
Cancer diets are one of the most controllable factors that we can modify and make a way to cancer prevention. Majority of the cancer risk factors are related to our environment and diet which leads to a claim that cancer is a preventable disease. Some food can actually increase your risk of having cancer but there are also other food products that support your body and boosts up the immune system. Choices are available to help you protect your own health. There is a saying that “what you eat and don’t eat has a powerful effect on health” and there is a scientific support for that anecdote.
Make sure that you have an access to fresh plant-based food. These are mainly vegetables and fruits. Eat it raw as a salad or even bake it for your breakfast, lunch and dinner. Try eating apples, raw carrots, celery and cucumbers alone or with a low fat dip instead of eating chips for your snack. For deserts, replace your luscious icing cake with fruits or simply cut down 70% of the cake for desert. Real fruits juices are also good for your health. However, the juice from a powdered juice pack is not preferable. Have a juicer at home and make great fresh juice yourself from the fruits and the green leafy vegetables. Well however, the diet varies based on the type of cancer being suffered by the patient. A patient with pancreatic cancer will have a different pancreatic cancer diet. Similarly, a patient suffering from liver cancer should consult a doctor and follow the best liver cancer diet.
You should eat a lot of fibers as they are also rich form of plant-based foods. Fibers play a role in cleaning your digestive system. More raw the food more fiber it will contain which thus helps you cleanse your stomach properly. Vegetables and fruit also contain fibers along with a range of anti-oxidants that protect the body against cancer and help the body cells to function optimally. These antioxidants are found in food rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, E and Selenium.
Food preparation also plays a role along with your choice of food. So wash your fruits and vegetables thoroughly to remove the carcinogenic substances. Steam vegetables with little water without overcooking and eat properly when you are hungry. Drinking plenty of water also helps keep away the disease.
